Internship as Teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language

Beijing University of International Relations had invited students of the Irkutsk State University to an internship. Students from two faculties of the university have visited China within the program of academic mobility of students. Six students got the opportunity to participate in the program in October. They are future interpreters from Chinese and teachers of Russian as a foreign language: Maria Alexeeva, Margarita Poddubnaya, Elizaveta Sabidaeva (Faculty of Foreign Languages), and Natalia Petrova, Maria Loshanina, Alexandra Shevelyova (Faculty of Philology and Journalism). They worked in the provinces of Shandong, Jiangsu and Anhui, where they taught high school students the Russian language. During the internship students, learning Chinese, improved their professional skills, and beginning teachers of Russian gained an international teaching experience. Their aim was to popularize the Russian language abroad and to attract foreign students to the Irkutsk State University. It should be noticed, that local newspapers wrote about our students and noted the importance of relations with Russia. “The program was exiting. We taught lessons in many different classes and had an useful experience how to organize various education activity from games to special lectures devoting to Russian culture and Siberia nature. Also we gave a speech at formal and informal meetings. It was pleasant to know that Chinese are interested in Russia and it’s traditions and welcome toward us”, said Natalia Petrova.
