The course is taught in the following languages: English, Chinese (for English-speaking and Chinese-speaking students), Russian (for Russian-speaking students)
Regional Studies is a new field aimed at the training of analysts who can negotiate in foreign languages, coordinate international programs and supervise projects, accompany delegations abroad and carry out consulting in different areas of domestic and foreign affairs.
Regional Studies analysts to be receive training in a number of fields. Concerning the theory and practice of Regional Studies, they study history and methodology of region research, methods of teaching Regional Studies and Linguocultural Studies, current issues of Regional Studies. Concerning intercultural communication, the students learn foreign languages in professional activity, the basics of journalism and media management, Asian Pacific ethnology. Concerning the social and political spheres, the students explore the political and cultural systems of the countries in Asian Pacific, social processes management as well as safety issues and conflicts in Asian Pacific Area. Concerning economics, the students learn about the processes of modernization, transformation and economic integration in Asian Pacific. A profound knowledge of the language is strengthened by theoretical courses in stylistics, history of linguistics, history of the languages of Asian Pacific, theoretical grammar.
The students take part in the research projects of the Department of Asian Pacific Regional Studies and acquire skills in managing projects and research activity.
The knowledge and the skills of an expert in Regional Studies are required in administrative bodies, academic institutions, archives, museums, international organizations related to exchange programs between funds and universities, in foreign companies, joint enterprises and travel agencies.
The course offers:
- studying languages of Asian Pacific countries (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, English and Spanish) from zero to advanced level;
- 6-month and 12-month internships in the countries of study;
- being taught by high-class specialists and native speakers;
- meetings, trainings, lectures of representatives of consulates and diplomatic service, heads of enterprises and leading experts in Asian Pacific;
- assistance in employment, including during studies;
- after graduating – an opportunity to study for PhD for free in partner universities abroad.

Entrance exams:
an interview in Regional Studies (topics are offered depending on the choice of the country of study – China, Korea, Japan, the USA).
