Contribution to the development of Master's programmes in Russia

The teaching staff of Irkutsk State University has been included in the grant competition list of winners of the Vladimir Potanin Fellowship Program 2018/2019. Among the participants, there were leading universities of Russia represented by the staff working with Master’s Degree Programmes. 

The competition consisted of four categories:

–        new Master's Degree Programme,

–        new training course,

–        new online training course,

–        new methods and technologies in training.

Upon the information received, there were 881 applications from 72 universities in total. 820 applications were admitted to expert evaluation after technical testing and plagiarism checking.

According to the results of the competition, there are 100 winners (five more teachers are included in the reserve list). ISU representatives are in their number:

• Sayana Vologzhina (Associate Professor of the Department of Hydrology and Environmental Management, Dean of the Faculty of Geography) with the project of an online training course “Fundamentals of recreational environmental management” development (category “New online training course”);

• Elena Weber (Associate Professor of the Department of Translation and Translatology) with the project “Linguistic support of tourism: fundamentals of heritage interpretation, translation and interpretation studies” (category “New Master's Degree Programme”);

• Alexander Arguchintsev (Professor of the Department of Computational Mathematics and Optimization) with the project “Mathematical and computer modeling in environmental protection and environmental management” (category “New Master's Degree Programme”).

According to Oksana Oracheva, the general director of the Foundation, the grant competition gives many advantages to a teacher-leader. First of all, it is a professional who strives for continuous self-development. This person considers participation in such a competition as a tool for professional and personal growth, appreciates teamwork and is ready to take responsibility. Our winners are well acquainted with the Russian and international educational landscape and are ready to act as ambassadors of Russian education. The general director of the Foundation is sure that these people will make a significant contribution to the development of Master's Degree Programmes in Russia.

 

Grant competition winners will receive up to 500 000 rubles.
